FROM JEREZ TO VALENCIA THROUGH MUGELLO. THIS WEEK, LORENZO FLUXÁ TRAVELLED TO THE TRANSALPINE TRACK TO TEST IN THE ITALIAN F4. THE MAJORCAN IMMEDIATELY FACES THE 4TH ROUND OF THE SPANISH F4 CHAMPIONSHIP, A CONTEST WHERE HE IS 5TH ON THE STANDINGS BEFORE THE MEETING AT THE RICARDO TORMO CIRCUIT, WHERE THE DRIVER SPONSORED BY LJS RATXÓ ECO LUXURI RETREAT WILL FIGHT AGAIN FOR A SPOT ON THE PODIUM.
The season of the Spanish F4 Championship is progressing and almost without notice we are facing it fourth round already at the Circuito Ricardo Tormo de la Comunitat Valneciana. It is round 4 of the 7 scheduled on the 2020 calendar. A Championship that delayed its start due to the COVID-19 pandemic until the month of June at Navarra, and that will end up on the first weekend of December at Circuito del Jarama – RACE.
As expected after debuting this past winter on open wheelers with a runner-up spot at F4 UAE, Lorenzo Fluxá is one of the challengers of the F4 Spain, Championship in which he knows what it’s like to step on the podium and where he aspires to get his first victory. The driver of the Global Racing Service team is today 5th on the standings and, had he not been rammed by another driver on the last race at Jerez when racing 4th, he could be on that position on the Championship.
In between the rounds of Jerez and Valencia, Lorenzo has taken part in one of the official tests for the Italian F4 Championship Powered by Abarth. The Majorcan accepted the invitation of the AKM Motorsport Antonelli team, who collaborate with Kart Republic, a structure well-known by Lorenzo back on his karting days. The sensations of the young 15-year-old were very good during his debut on the Tuscany track, the scenery of the last Formula 1 World Championship round just a few days ago.
Valencia will be the fourth round of the season. Lorenzo is currently sitting 5th on the standings, the second-best Spaniard, merely 8 points behind 4th overall Joshua Dufek. With his car from the Spanish team Global Racing Service, the Majorcan is the first non-MP Motorsport driver of the Championship. To the GRS Team this is their home race, as the team’s base is located on the nearby city of Paterna.
Up until now, consistency has been one of the keys to Lorenzo’s season. At 15 and with a wide experience on competition through his years at karting, he always knew how to read races very well. On each of the three rounds of the calendar, he has always made it to the end, being his worse position a 12th on the last race at Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto.
That result was due to a forced recovery drive after another driver rammed him on the first lap when he was running in fourth. The points lost at that race, together with the ones awaiting review on the second race at Paul Ricard have been vital on this first part of the season. His best results up until now are the 3rd position on the second race at Navarra, two 5ths at the first races in Jerez and the 6th places at the third race of both Navarra and Paul Ricard. Races that prove how consistent and quick the Balearic is.
The fourth round of the Spanish F4 Championship is in this round a part of the Racing Weekend, a project by Spain’s Real Federación Española de Automobilismo. All the races of the weekend will be streamed through LaLigaSportsTV.
Lorenzo Fluxá: “It’s been a pleasure to be able to take part in an Italian F4 test. It’s a very prestigious Championship and there’s drivers and teams with a high level. I think these two days at Mugello helped me to learn and gather experience. In Valencia, I’m expecting a lot. We will do the best we can and my target is to get that anticipated first victory I’ve been looking for since the start of the Championship. I really like the Circuit Ricardo Tormo de Valencia. It’s very fun because there’s a lot of different corners, mixed, slow and quick, and the chicane is very demanding for the drivers”.
